The Chelsea Physic Garden was founded in 1673, as the Apothecaries’ Garden, with the purpose of training apprentices in identifying plants.  This 4 acre garden is a collection of around 5,000 different edible, useful, medicinal and historical plants. In addition to the garden there is a cafe and a gift shop.  It is London’s oldest botanic garden, and one of the most important centres of botany and plant exchange in the world.  The rock garden, built in 1773, is Grade II listed and the oldest rock garden in England (built partially from stones from the Tower of London).  Period events and fairs are held at the garden.  Visit their website for more info:  http://www.chelseaphysicgarden.co.uk/

The garden has an admission fee, is generally open Tues - Sun between April and October, and is located at: 66 Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, SW3 4HS.  Enter on Swan Walk.
